The Components: Creating Charge

Motionhouse’s declared aim is to always ‘surprise and delight’ audiences with their high-octane, visually arresting and multi-sensory work. Their 360 degree sets, emotive soundscapes and interactive film and lighting effects are an integral part of the company’s expression and help create a spectacular ‘wow’ factor designed to maximize engagement in a bid to stimulate curiosity, debate and reflection on the human condition.

“I think life is richer if every now and again you look at it with fresh eyes” (Finnan)

For Charge, Kevin assembled a creative team, most of whom had worked with him on Broken and Scattered so were familiar with the Motionhouse collaborative approach and would provide a thread of technical continuity across the Tryptych. Discussions over how each element could help express the dance idea began early on, long before any movement had been made.
